Idun No 1 – functional and sustainable design
The 1930’s bestseller, Idun No 1, is still manufactured today at Josef Davidssons. This best-selling wood stove is now known as the Idun No 1 and is part of the JD series alongside the JD 27, JD 227, and JD 320.
Our frames are cast at a selective foundry in Denmark while sheet metal parts are manufactured and assembled by hand in the village of Reftele in Småland, Sweden. The traditional style of our wood stove suits all types of kitchens and cottages. Open the fireplace door and you will find the latest combustion technology.
The stove has a large baking oven with a 15 mm soapstone slab ceiling that gives a more even oven temperature and retains heat longer. If you fill the oven with a soapstone insert, it continues to radiate heat all night. The doors open and close smoothly with a spring lock and you can regulate the outdoor air with a knob. The stove is delivered with stovetop hobs for the best heat retention and cooking options. Stove rings in the traditional design are available as an option.
The stove comes with:
- Fire poker
- Soot rake
- Ash box
- Stove polish
- Heat resistant sealant
- Thermometer
- Flat baking sheet
Options:
- Brick and smoke connection for connection at the back
- Complete set with stove rings
- Leg stand
A wooden stove has a long life
Our fast-paced lifestyles and culture of consumption have us yearning for simplicity and authenticity. Climate change and dependency on technology has made us humans vulnerable. And the environment is equally stressed, as we are.
At Josef Davidssons, we believe that design must be functional and based on environmentally friendly, and sustainable thinking. Our customers today value our wood stoves as much for their Swedish design as their reliability. The Idun No 1 is proof that good design and function survive trends and time. The fact that the stove is also Eco-design approved, is another added perk.
