With a top-mounted damper, you can regulate the chimney draught without having to install a damper inside the chimney itself. The damper is mounted directly on the fireplace so that you do not have to drive up and install an ideal damper or similar. It can also make it easier to adjust the draught by having the damper handle directly on the fireplace and not having to reach up to the chimney.
